Out and about

We had a lovely day  again today.  First we visited our niece and partner, Louise and Ben who live on a boat...… it is an old lighter, and they have been turning it into their home for a while now.  Was most impressed with what they have done, they have worked very hard.  A lighter is much like a barge, but with no engine and towed with its cargo.

They have Fauna the dog, four rabbits (can't remember all their names) and Breadcrumbs the chicken (see extra).  They all seem to live happily together, and it was great to be able to see them on our visit.

We went back to Gt. Bentley and Helen made us a lovely lunch, and then we went walking at the Stour Estuary Nature Reserve with Dave, an old friend of Helen's.  And Dave took us afterwards to Harwich for a drink, and a little walk around this very historical town.  (extra of Ha'penny Pier at Harwich).

…..and still hot, hot, hot...… the village green is totally brown, no green grass.  H tells me it is like that every summer, but recovers in the autumn.  This is a very dry part of the UK, I believe records show it is the driest......
