Crunchy Snack

Nothing if not speedy these Black-tailed Skimmers; well they have to be to catch flies on the wing - positively zipping over the water surface.

Their mating was even speedier - all over before you could blink then a frenetic ovipositing on the surface of the water whilst her mate flew round in attendance guarding her. Fascinating to watch but boy it was hot in full sun on the lake side.
