Centre of Attention

The Antiques Roadshow came to Wrest Park today and we went to see what it was like.  The journey took 2 or 3 days, the queuing to get in another couple, but finally we were in and it was a very well set-up affair.  The visitors with stuff queue for another week to have an expert look at their stuff.

Once an expert has assessed someone's stuff, they decide whether or not it will be filmed (each expert seems to have a maximum number of slots) and they go through it all again.  After the filming, the producer gets the expert and the visitor to fill in gaps with reruns of the dialogue and the results are really good.  Most impressive!

It was a hot day.  I was concerned that some of the experts were working very hard in difficult conditions, but they slogged away.  Most impressive stuff.

Wrest Park is a great venue, with plenty of space and gorgeous grounds.

Fiona Bruce looked great . . . of course . . .  The main shot is her waiting for the filming.  She waited a long time, as did Ronnie.  The crowd shot is a long one of the scene, behind all the paraphernalia of TV recording (the girl right in the foreground had just vacuum-cleaned the grass around the little set); you can just see Fiona in the crowd.  The second extra shot is of the pavilion.

But I don't want anyone think that I have a thing for Fiona Bruce, or anything.  Oh no . . .
