Ready for winter

For their first winter these shrubs are not doing too badly for berries - apart from the Rowan tree of course!
The hawthorn and pyracantha have grown phenominally and are thick with berries for the birds. Flocks of fieldfare and redwing are already to be seen (and heard) and I am hoping to entice them into the garden this winter - usually they gather in the trees down by the brook and don't come in.
The rose hips are rather pathetic but then the briar hedge is only just thickening up into a hedge; I'm sure it will be much better next year.
Fingers crossed!
The BTO are running a berry survey this winter which you might want to follow. It started on 30 September and I'm not too sure whether you can still take part.
