No Umbrellas Required

Across large areas of the UK, rain finally fell, bringing welcome relief for gardeners and farmers in particular. Of course, today is the end of the school year in many parts of Britain - you could have predicted that rain would fall today.

But Northampton stubbornly remained in a dry spot, as if ring-fenced by an invisible force field. Finally, this evening, a few reluctant spots have fallen, dissolving even before reaching the warm soil. I believe this kind of moisture is officially known as 'trace'. Watering cans remain at the ready.

So, it's still sunhat and sunglasses weather ahead. This market trader must be having a good season.
