Island Hopping

We leave the beautiful beach at Refviksanden on the island of Vågsøy with the objective of reaching Ålesund, and the most northern point of our trip this time. Back over the swooping viaduct to the mainland, and in along Nordfjord before turning north towards the ferry from Koparnes to the island of Gurskøy.

On Gurskøy a hill in climbed, which affords excellent views to the north west, over Sandsøya, which Freya is convinced looks like a sleeping dragon (She’s obsessed by dragons).

Onwards, over a bridge to the next island of Hareidlandet, then another ferry over to the islands of Sula and Uksenøya, and then finally round to Nørve and Aspøya, which the town of Ålesund straddles.

We can’t find anywhere to stay in Ålesund, so after a welcome restaurant meal by the harbour, we begin driving east, and home, to stop at the first campsite we find which has space.
