within us and within our reach...

“True happiness is to enjoy the present, without anxious dependence upon the future, not to amuse ourselves with either hopes or fears but to rest satisfied with what we have, which is sufficient, for he that is so wants nothing. The greatest blessings of mankind are within us and within our reach. A wise man is content with his lot, whatever it may be, without wishing for what he has not.”
Seneca

(apparently...according to Seneca...even before the age of status anxiety so...)

“Wealth is not an absolute. It is relative to desire. Every time we yearn for something we cannot afford, we grow poorer, whatever our resources. And every time we feel satisfied with what we have, we can be counted as rich, however little we may actually possess.”
Alain de Botton, Status Anxiety

(I was always extremely lucky that I never wanted anything I couldn't afford...but actively looking for solutions for unaffordable emotional yearnings...any ideas welcome...;-)
