Farmers Market, DuPont Circle, Washington DC

It’s not often that I am in Washington on a Sunday, so I made the most of it and spent quite a bit of time at the farmer’s market at DuPont Circle. This market takes place every Sunday all year round. Today was surely one of the hottest days. I wonder what it’s like in the middle of winter when the temperature can be as extreme as today?

Not only are fruit and vegetables available, but there are flowers, cheese, other dairy, eggs, meat, soaps, candles, sauces, jams, ice cream, cider (American style - meaning non-alcoholic apple juice), other fruit and vegetable juices, and yes, whisky and other ‘hard’ beverages. Besides being able to sample most of the offerings (I avoided the alcohol!), there were plenty of food stalls and pop-up eateries. I had a bit of carbohydrate overload with a blueberry pancake and later on a breakfast pizza, washed down with a refreshing basil lemonade. All this while enjoying the music of various street musicians. A very happy, though hot, morning in DC.
