When Fergus went to Davaar Island

15.4C and cloudy. Sometime dull, sometimes brighter. Light WSW/W breeze.

Apothecary7's day off.

We went round to the Doirlinn car park mid morning, parked, and set off across to Davaar island. We had checked the tide times last night and knew we had more than enough time to wander over and back. I had a fancy to get to the trig point on the top and Apothecary7 wanted to go round the edge of the island to see the painting in the cave.

A route guide.

If you would like to see the photos I took as we walked along they are on Flickr.

Unfortunately the weather wasn't the sunny days we have had of late and the light was quite flat but it was a good walking day. Photo is the view from the Beacon to the island.

Once the island is reached I would warn anyone who may do the same walk in future that the shore round to the cave is very stony and boulder strewn. There is no path. It is a foreshore scramble. Fergus proved more than able, springing from boulder to boulder and making the whole thing look easy.

We decided not to head to the trig point today. The bracken full grown and there are no defined paths. I think I will leave that for late Autumn or Spring when it will be easier walking with no undergrowth up to waist height.

We were back home for a late lunch.

Later Apothecary7 steam cleaned her Lloyd Loom chair which was acquired from the Curiosity Shop yesterday. Next job will be painting it.
