Life or death

You would be forgiven for not quite being sure what is hiding behind the leaves.

It’s a life saving ring.

I’m sure there’s some sort of metaphorical meaning behind a life saving ring that’s difficult to reach.

Life, the life of the trees and bushes, has taken over. Perhaps at the sacrifice of a human attempting to swim in the lake. Unintentional. Nature will thrive, whether humans are here or not. Without human intervention there is more chance for the former to live without care.
