Ferry aka butter boat

We’ve been to the NE today to see the parents. We set off early so we could give Reggie a run on the beach before seeing any of them. The DFDS ferry was just coming into the harbour - the locals have always called it the butter boat as it reputedly brought the Lurpak butter across - as we arrived. Amazing how much it dwarfed the hotel as it went up the river.

In extras we got mum and dad out for an ice cream and then a sit on the cliffs watching the world go by. Mr H got a lovely snap of the 3of us.

You could see a long way down the coast today. I was always led to believe you could see as far as flamborough head on a good day. Does any one know if that is true. We were sat in Whitburn, Sunderland.
