Day of Fests

Ben was so excited to be on holiday he was up before 7 wanting to get out on a cycle. Was eating breakfast in the garden at 7.30 and kept on and on about it so him and Paps got away on the cycle track at the end of the street and headed to Loch Vaa, where they sat by the Loch and watched a squirrel family chase each other round the tree trunk . Ben noticed tiny frogs in the water so he placed a few on his arm, just cos boys like that sort of thing.

He brought up another one on his arm to show Paps which he was told it was a leech! Luckily it hadn’t gripped on yet .....

Cameron was a bit miffed they were away when he surfaced from bed but he tried to find them but there are a few tracks and he just waited and then they went off again.

As Mummy was with us till Wednesday and no bike for her, we had a circular walk from the village down to the River Spey, along it and up by the Golf Club and then time for a refreshment in our excellent local Cafe - hard to choose which Home bake to have but I stuck to the scones - freshly made that morning by the owner’s daughter.

We went from there down to the Strathspey Heritage Railway where they had a Bike Fest on as well as the steamies chugging up and down fromAviemore to Broomhill. Bert took great delight in telling us the story of his old Rover bike and it was interesting. He told us that Tractorfest was down the road at Broomhill so we drove the few miles to it and there were loads of really old tractors and home baking. It was like stepping into the past having seen a lot of these as a child in the 60s.

Home and more games night.
First day here and love it already.
