The Liberation of the Channel Islands

The Channel Islands were the only part of the British Isles to be occupied by the Germans during WW2. They were liberated on 9th May 1945 - this is Liberation Square in St Helier, Jersey. (For a more accurate history see UrbanDonkey's comment below)

The bronze in the centre is of a group of islanders unfurling the British flag.

My extra is of a stone in the Howard Davis Park, also in St Helier.
