Mono Monday - Charity

I was overwhelmed at a charity event for the local lifeboat here on Valentia. They had an open day so people were milling about the boat looking around when they got a call. Off came the visitors, on rushed the volunteers and out zipped the lifeboat.

Upon their return some several hours later we spoke with one of the lifeboat men. His day job is a paramedic, he showed us his pager and explained that only the skipper is employed. The rest of them, living on the island, answer the page when it beeps - day or night. They are selfless volunteers for a worthwhile charity who put themselves in harms way to help those in trouble at sea.

He stood taking a photo of himself with his 3yr old son and 3month old daughter. I hope he always finds himself safely brought home from these endeavours. Selfless charity. I'm in awe!

Thanks to si_b for hosting an interesting mono challenge.
