Tour de France

A year ago we were in the delightful village of `Siorac to celebrate a friend's 70th birthday. The day we arrived  we were just in time to see the Tour de France flash by at almost subliminal speed. One moment they were there to the sound of klaxons, helicopters, escort cars, flag waving and the rest of it. Then they were gone.
Prior to that we stayed in the magical city of Carcassonne in a little apartment above a wine shop, and discovered the pleasure of walking along the canal du midi. Have plenty of photos but this was in the days before blip.
This year I have to watch the Tour from afar on TV, gaze at the canal sliding dreamily through the countryside of southwest France  look in awe at the fairytale turrets of the castle in Carcassonne, and hope one day we will return to travel the length of the canal du midi, as we promised ourselves.
