The Female of the Species

Not the same one from yesterday (she was rewarded for her patience, see extra - and she's still wrapping it up!) but a truly teeny little speck spotted on one of my sunflowers. A flower crab spider apparently - and a female. She can change her colours from white to yellow, sometimes managing  a green or red stripe depending upon the colours of the flower she is hunting in. They don't make webs for capturing things but they do use them for a spot of abseiling!  So named because they walk sideways like a crab and when hunting extend their front crabby claws and leap on the victim, biting it on the neck and immediately paralysing it!

Himself went off for a mega walk up a mountain with a friend and I have worked tirelessly in the garden.... and not made a scrap of difference!
