Kendal was first granted a Charter to hold a Market by Richard the 1st. In 1189.

I find it comforting to think that despite wars, plagues and massive social changes, I can still make use of the market after 829 years.

Mrs K bought me a small leather coin purse to stop all that loose change making holes in my pockets.
