Makatote viaduct,
On North's main trunk line.


`79 metres above the river and 262 metres long we are on the train on the Makatote viaduct. Completed in 1908 this was the final link in our North Island main trunk railway.Set in thickly forested hills this was a forbidding site 110 years ago.
