Small Magpie Moth

Anania hortulata.  This pretty moth flies around in June and July. Its larva eat rolled or spun leaves, mainly nettle, mint and bindweed.  Then in late summer they hibernate in a silky cocoon in a hollow stem or under tree bark.  This moth was by the landing window - another one to catch and release outside.  I notice when the nights are cooler fewer moths come into the house at night and when they do often in pairs or more of the same species.
