Brooklands race track

The old 2¼ mile antique race track is looking rather scabby and overgrown - quite aside from now being chopped up and containing a shopping centre and the Brooklands air and racing museum.

The race track surface is a rough, jointed non-reinforced concrete which was renowned for being rough and needing regular repairs. But what remains is the first purpose-built banked race-track in the world ... and quite impressive at that. Even on such a hot summer day.
