Fields

Headed over to Norham today to have a walk along the river Tweed. Managed to get a bit lost but found our way back again. Nice walk through the fields and then back along the river. Had the homemade Scotch eggs for lunch along the way. Came back to the house and off to a re-enactment of the battle of Carham in 1018. This was the battle that helped forge the boarder between England and Scotland. The battle was held between two armies from Scotland lead by Malcolm 2nd, King of Alba and Owen the Bald of Strathclyde who came down to fight the Earl of Northumbria, believed to be Uhtred. Owen the Bald died in 1018, possible in the battle, which lead to Malcolm 2ndtaking over his kingdom. During the battle Owen the Bald held the Earl of Northumbria at bay long enough to let Malcolm 2nd to out flank them and attack from the rear giving the victory to the Scots. Extras show a parlay between Owen, on the left and Uhtred on the right. Good fun and interesting.
