Sgwarnog: In the Field

Gatekeeper

Morning rain gave way to a cooler, windier but bright day. There were puddles on the paths and slugs and snails revelling.

I wandered along to Moorside and then down to Spring Wood and in the more shelterd, sunny spots there were still plenty of butterflies and moths: lots of Gatekeeper, Speckled Wood, Meadow Brown along with Large White, Green-veined White, Small Skipper, Small Copper, Silver-Y and Pale Straw Pearl. I seem not to have shared a gatekeeper with you yet this year, so here you go.

The kids arrived after lunch and are with me until Wednesday now, I'm sure we'll find something to occupy ourselves.
