New Street Art Banners

We've had a very quiet, relaxing Sunday, although we did manage 30 lengths of the pool this morning; today's weather kept the crowds away for the first time in ages and there was plenty of room to swim.

In the last couple of weeks these new banners have appeared onthe lamp posts in the High Street, replacing the ones that have been there the last few years, many of which I've blipped before.

These ones feature the paintings of Lance Clark, a member of the Clarks shoe family and Managing Director of the company until his retirement. He was also a keen and prolific artist, producing lots of paintings of the local area some of which, like this one, feature on the banners.

After his retirement he set up the charity Soul of Africa, helping young people in South Africa and Ethiopia; one of the sources of funds came from the sale of his paintings.

Here's the link to his website if you'd like to know more:

He died in February of this year so this display of his talents is a fitting tribute to his contribution to both the local and wider community.
