Wid Wed

This is a field of wheat which looked pretty life (less) to us. You might just be able to make out the farmer who is gathering in the fruits of his labour in the top field. The red soil was parched, dry and cracked. We have walked nearly 14 miles in total today, we have been out for just under 11 hours, got caught out by a bus which didn’t stop where we expected it to ( at the bus stop) so we had to wait an hour for the next one, got caught up in train cancellations on the way home. We were receeing the fourth part of the Devon Heartland Way which I am leading in early September. We enjoyed the walk but not the faffing with the buses and trains at each end. I have entered this for Wid Wed today, the theme of which this week is life. This wheat field should be full of life buzzing with insects but I fear was sadly lacking due to the weather we are having this summer.
