Shopping centre surprise

Who would think this was in a shopping centre?

Today, had a shopping trip to Bluewater and at long last found the nature trail. Leaving behind the restaurants overlooking the lake we followed the directions under a tunnel with beautiful mosaics created by local schools which opened on to a wonderful lake side vista.

I was quite taken by the moorhen chicks calling for their mums. I watched one adult rebuilding her nest, carrying long reeds through the water.

Bluewater was constructed in 1999 on the old 240 acre Blue Circle Cement site. The quarry provided chalk for the London building industry.

When Bluewater opened it was Europe's largest retail and leisure complex. Leisure being the operative word, as there is no sports centre, but plenty of eateries and drinkeries.

I got some bargains in M & S and had a great coffee and strawberries dipped in chocolate in Cocoba.
