Cockermouth

Plaque reads:- On Thursday 19th November 2009 the rivers Cocker and Derwent, which join at Cockermouth, rose to a level that flooded much of central Cockermouth. This plaque marks the height of the water that day.

 We spent a couple of hours exploring historical Cockermouth after orienteering at Winlatter. The thousands of orienteers were bussed in from Cockermouth  We had the excitement of being on a coach that had to back up  the windy road to Winlatter for about a km   after coming head to head with a truck with a wide load, The driver got a round of applause for his expert driving. I would have been over the edge
