Arch Rivals

Tonight, despite the sweltering temperatures and high humidity, we went to Fenway Park to watch the Red Sox (Boston's home team) play against their arch rivals the New York Yankees.  As you can imagine, the crowd was very enthusiastic, and the game was great!

In the second inning, the sky got very dark and ominous, and the rain started pelting down.  It felt so good!  The game continued despite the rain, and I think everyone was relieved there was no lightning involved.  Here you can see a collage showing from left to right, top to bottom:  An iconic Red Sox sign with the street sign beneath it showing "David Ortiz Drive" -- David Ortiz (better known to Sox fans as "Big Papi" retired last year, and is much missed!), next a shot of the ominous sky, some well prepared Red Sox fans sitting in the seats just in front of us, sporting their team rain ponchos, and finally #50, Mookie Betts slamming one into the outfield to the delight of Bostonians everywhere!  We left the game early because Mabel needed to be let out, and I really can't deal with seething hordes of people crowding together as they all try to leave the stadium at the same time.  As I write this from the comfort of home, the score is Red Sox: 14 to Yankees: 6 in the bottom of the 8th inning.
