Elisabeth House, Devonport

Formerly Ventnor Private Hospital, it was rebuilt in 1911 after a fire. Requisitioned by the New Zealand Royal Navy in 1944, it was well known to the local as "The Wrenery", after the Women's Royal New Zealand Naval Service. Elisabeth House was home to many naval women until its closure in 1991.
