Grippers

Rebellion diary, day #1

Grippers were the band of the day in what was otherwise a bit of a slow burn. I was grabbed by them last year on the Instroducing Stage, so it was really cool to see them, not only back from Madrid this year, but also getting a bigger stage in the form of the Arena and I would think there were 400 or 500 there to see them. Raw, angry, shouty vocals from Mery and a generally thrash vibe. Great stuff.

Otherwise not too much to report. Evil Blizzard did their thing, but great as they are, they’re an uneasy fit here.

Was seriously impressed by Maid of Ace - http://www.maid-of-ace.com/ and “all the way from fucking Australia” The Mis-Made - https://themismade.com/ - there does seem to be a decent proportion of female artists on the bill, which is encouraging and not always taken for granted at some festivals.

Quite enjoyed GBH in the Empress Ballroom, although they’re a bit of a one trick band with little variety. Solid, though.

Richer pickings tomorrow, I reckon, although, that said I am making a bit of an effort to see a decent number of bands I’ve never encountered before.
