fly by

Was watching the tree beside me when this little fella buzzed by. He created a stir amongst the small group of people, dividing us between those who hate flying things particularly is they look waspish, and the rest.
Interesting to me, at least , was his beauty and his focus on the leaf. He epitomised evolution in nature - fit for purpose. 
Sometimes we miss beauty and wonder because of our fear of encountering something different, someone "other". Maybe it has been the bad press (wasps) of maybe a prior bad experience. Nonetheless, I guess for me it is a lesson on embracing fear and in that moment new things can come into focus!
