Money Laundering

The Omani Rial is linked to the American Dollar which greatly affects how strong it is against the not-so-mighty Great British Pound.

When I first came out to Oman, the Omani Rial stood at around £1.35, falling to £1.29 just before the summer, but now it's up to £1.78 and looks set to get even stronger.

Of course, this doesn't really affect day to day living in Oman. In actual fact, Oman is becoming a vey expensive place to live. Where strong exchange rates come into their own is when tranferring money home to buy things like my manbag and netbook, the latter of which I used to upload, edit and post today's blip. It's great little piece of kit.

This particular shop has always offered one of the best rates in Muscat, although I've only just noticed the name, which may explain why!
