Glasgow Green

Backblip
We were up early to get our breakfast before all the swimmers ate it all ;) A few were there already in their team tracksuits. We saw the Swedish, Norwegian and Hungerian teams today.Back in the room we could see them all queuing up to get a coach to take them to the Tollcross Swimming Pool to train.
Mike had a phone call to make first , we checked out and left our bags behind the desk and set off for a walk along the River Clyde to Glasgow Green. We spotted a few murals on the way, the Tiger, Billy Connelly, the pelican and the new Charles Rennie Mackintosh one on the Clutha Inn, very impressive.
The whole of Glasgow agree has been taken over by Go live at the Green to celebrate the first European Championships , it’s also part of the cycling route and possibly other events.
Lots to see and do . Picked up lots of info to use with Brownies and some new ideas .
We were given some free seeds from the RSPB in the garden area which was celebrating 30 years since the Glasgow Gardens Festival. Some great ideas for planting using old Pallets.
We watched the circus show in the Big Top which was funny to start with but went on abit too long especially for children. It was all free as well :)
We looked at this new memorial near the People’s Palace. It commemorates all those affected by the Irish and Highland Famine in the 19th Century. Very moving especially after seeing the exhibition in Dublin.
A quick look at Glasgow Square and then the long train journey back.
