Dragonflies

An outing this morning with the Arnside Natural History Society to look for Dragonflies. Thirty members enjoyed sunshine at a large pond on what used to be an industrial site at Middleton just south of Heysham. Wonderful how nature has reoccupied the site and it is now good for many species of plants and insects.

My photo shows a Common Darter. The black marks at the end of the wings have tiny spots of red.
We also found a Great Crested Newt and the extra shows its yellow underside. Handled my someone with a licence to do so.
