Sunshine in Leith

So it was our first time at a gig in Leith Theatre, a venue I was not really aware of and immediately impressed by. It was for King Creosote's sold out show at the EIF... it's been a while since we have seen him with a band. The show was great and left the crowd still begging for more as the lights came on. He does write some of the most beautiful songs I know!

What we hadn't really been aware of was... this was the first show in the theatre for 30 years! Since then some groups have slowly been attempting to reuse the building, but not the main theatre until now. We were standing in there looking around thinking what a great venue it was, easily comparable to venues in Glasgow we attend. There's a series of gigs there through the festival and to host them they had to put in generators as there was not enough power and toilets in portacabins, but it is expected proper funding will come to get it up to scratch afterwards. I really hope so...
