My mother's hands

It is actually my hand. When I look at it though I see my mum. She always had warm hands, she worked hard with her hands, she has held the little hands of the children, grandchildren, great grandchildren as well as nephews and nieces. She used them to make and mend clothes, knit for us , wash/dry/iron, she cut the 100 meters of garden hedges, cut the grass lawns and dug the gardens. She hung wallpaper and scrubbed floors. The one thing she was never much good at with her hands was baking and making pastry. Lol.
Her hands are always cold now, poor circulation. I sometimes hold her hands gently in mine in the attempt to transfer the warmth in my hands and heart to the most precious person in my life.
