Ambialet

Very early start for Trébas to collect our various canoes and kayaks and paddle down the Tarn to Ambialet.

The weather was kind (sunny, but cooler than of late) and the water was refreshing, but not shockingly so (although mine and V’s near capsizing in the only ‘hard’ bit of rapids was briefly shocking - mainly for the half tonne of water we then had to paddle around until we found a good stopping point to tip it out).

We idled way too much in the early stages and though V and I arrived at the meeting point on the dot of noon, that was only thanks to a long spell of concerted work to make it there on time.

Some good heron and kingfisher sightings, and a lot of damsel flies. And the kids did great to keep on paddling through the exhaustion (though CarbBoy needed a tow with the rope that TallGirl, inevitably, had in her emergency bag).

After we were all dry, lunch in the shade, then Mr B had a long work call, and we eventually reconvened at the SKs holiday home for swimming, wasp killing, pizzas and chat.

A grand day out.
