Intently watching cricket on the Green

What promised to be a leisurely walk into town for a haircut, lunch, coffee and a bit of shopping turned into a bit of a scamper owing to stopping to chat over the garden wall with someone on the way.

Went up to the allotment in the afternoon, many French beans and runner beans picked along with courgettes and raspberries. Nice to go up there and not have to water!

On the way I stopped off at the Green to watch a few overs of the cricket which I thought would provide today’s blip. It did, but not in the way I expected. Instead of an action shot I captured three people intently watching the game.

Watched and listened to Runrig tonight. By this time next week they will have finished their last ever gig at Stirling Castle after 45 years as a band. We shan’t be there for the final gig but we will be there on Friday for the extra, penultimate concert put on such was the demand for tickets.

Ironic really, Radio 2 have a Runrig song on their playlist at the moment: “Somewhere” from The Story album featuring that marvellous Gaelic singer Julie Fowlis. Just as they’re ending their career as a band they are being played on national radio. Such a tremendous band and the soundtrack of our lives together over the past 20 years. It’ll be an emotional evening for everyone.
