& Son

In this Company I play
Chinless Wonder, a
spoiled spender
of a father's fortune.

The role does not stretch me. They
(snide gossips/under-
achievers)
hint I've little talent.

Jealousy! I've the skills and
a wallet that is
bursting with
bright gifts. The poor critics

will soon learn how to love me.
I see it now: my
name in lights,
applause, awards. And no

mention of famous father.
The great man will stand
in the wings,
humble but proud. 'Is that

your boy?' He nods. Relishing
the role. Tears of joy.
Mock surprise
when the audience calls

for him. He takes the stage. Bows.
Blows kisses. Puts an
actor's arm
around his seething son.

Daddy, can I turn this?
