Moving Joint (MM238)

The moving joint (one of a few) on the spinning wheel Gill's father made as a student teacher. This is the part where the up/down (reciprocating) motion of the treadle is turned into circular (rotating) motion to drive the wheel.  The wheel has a number of aspects I like,  clearly a well made 'machine' which does something useful, it also illustrates a number of fundamental principles of physics.  The wood is apple, quite hard to work but very stable which gives the wheel a long working life if it is treated well.  Colour version in the extra.
