Fans of Downton Abbey will recognise the building in the photo. It is Highclere Castle where the series was filmed. It is a grand Victorian pile, beautifully furnished, and in every room there was an easel showing stills of the scenes filmed there. It was very crowded, no doubt the Downton effect. No photos allowed inside the house. Having explored the house and the Tutenkhamen exhibition, we discovered the gardens. I was with a couple who are keen gardeners and it was good to hear their comments. Like everywhere else the garden was dry, but there was still plenty of colour. It was an energetic day, and with a long coach ride each way, I was weary when I got home.
