Settle/Carlisle

It was 50 years ago that the last mainline steam train ran...( 12 August 1968 from Liverpool to Carlisle )

Fortunately there are now lots of charter steam trains running...this one set off from Chester this morning to Carlisle...after a two hour stop in Carlisle it is now heading back to Chester via the Ribblehead viaduct and Settle...

It had loads of coaches and Pullman dining cars.

What a beast!
