Manche to the Med day 10

Day 10. Neussargues to Marvejols. 60 miles (!) and 1300m of climbing, quite an epic day. A very epic day. My blip was tajen by Mr PB and most of this description his pinched from him too.  After a bit of climbing we dropped down to cross the Truyère and cycled under the amazing Viaduc de Garabit built in 1884 by Eiffel of the tower fame. From there a 350m climb took us up to 1100m altitude again. The route followed a D road along side the A75 motorway for a long way which was safe but noisy.

The best of the day was saved for last. We turned away from the motorway and up to Roc de Peyre which stands out as the highest point for miles at 1180m, with a large cross on the top. From there we descended 500m down the stunning vallée de l'Enfer in to Marvejols where there is a fine supermarket and a campsite with a pool. Dinner and wine await. What a day!
