The Best Garden

Bad air or not, our book club was treated to a lovely sunny garden and Russian lunch (borscht) at K’s home…(her husband does all the gardening..) I have to start blipping such as more and more of our little group move to retirement homes.   There is so much new news every month.  The retirement home reports have not in the least tempted me!…:-(
The book we discussed was the thoroughly delightful “A Gentleman in Moscow” by Amor Towles, set in the Metropol Hotel between the years of 1922 and 1954.  Not just a history of those terrible years while following the life of an Aristocrat on “house arrest” in the elegant hotel for 32 years,  but the story of a witty and wise human being and many lovable characters.
Good to come out of my hermit state and be with some wonderful and chatty ladies once in awhile.
