Newcastle Blipmeet

We’ve had another fantastic day in Newcastle/Gateshead. At 11:00 this morning we met up with blipper David C and his “editor” and blipper Dollydoug in The Sage. We’ve met David C and editor before but I’ve been following Dolly for the longest time (neither of us could remember just how long) and this is the first time we’ve met. There’s always something very special about meeting someone for the first time when you’ve known them for so long!

Both David C and Dollydoug will have pics of us all on their blips (I would put a link to their journals but I can’t link on the iPad). It was great sitting and chatting in such a wonderful venue. We had a quick lunch together before Igor and I had to leave to go in to see an animated film set to music about the bridges along the Tyne in Newcastle. We were sorry we had to dash off but thank you all for taking the time to come down and meet us. Hope we can meet up again soon.

We came out of the Sage and wandered down to The Baltic where there were some really interesting exhibitions. We didn’t have time to see them all but I really enjoyed “Idea of North”. Well worth seeing if you’re in the area.

You may have noticed that my blip shows none of these events. As we were making our way across the Millennium Bridge we noticed police cars and a lot of activity on the Quayside. We saw the same sort of activity in the same place yesterday and assumed there’d been some sort of accident. We realised today that it was a filming of the police drama “Vera”. We were allowed to get surprisingly close to the filming. We watched for a little while then the director shouted “all finished” (shouldn’t he have said “it’s a wrap”) and the actors and crew all cheered. We love Vera so we’ll be watching the next series carefully to catch the clip we saw being filmed.

All in all it was a very exciting day.
