There is an "opening" for Sockeye salmon.  The estimate for this run is 14,000,000 to 24,000,000! These fish have a 4 year cycle and this is the biggest group.  Some of the others have been low in number due to bad weather in the spawning grounds, which are 400 - 500 km. up river
