Disappearing world: fog at the polling station

For want of a public building in the village, we vote in the parish church, about half a mile outside the village. We went at 5pm and we were the 10th and 11th people to vote. It's a small village, but that is a tiny turnout, and who can be surprised?
On the path to the church, the trees stood out against a wall of fog, so that the wood behind the trees appeared no longer to exist.
