Painted Lady

The sun came out again today and we went to Arlington Court, a National Trust property on the edge of Exmoor, the home of the Chichester family for over five hundred years and gifted to the NT in 1845. The house was lovely and is home to a large eclectic collection of treasures contributed by Rosalie Chichester (the last owner of Arlington Court). Housed in the original stable block is the carriage museum comprising over 40 vehicles from the 19th and 20th centuries, and in a glass case was the gold State Coach which had its last outing in 1981 for Charles and Diana's wedding (no photos allowed). The walled gardens were a delight and butterflies and bees were out in abundance on this lovely sunny day.

Our last day in North Devon, tomorrow we wend our way up to Gloucestershire for a few days.
