Who?

We had a walk (in the rain- my sister in law insisted!) along the seafront at Prestwick, heading up to the High Street near Prestwick Cross I spotted this monument- strange how you can live somewhere for years and still find undiscovered things- blip definitely opens your eyes!
PS after an extensive search, I still can't find out who Matthew Smith was!
