Concert in Stirling

Not part of the Edinburgh Fringe but fitted in very well for my “fringe” week. By train to Stirling, then walked up to the castle, good meal at the Highland Hotel (alas no draught Guinness but tried ‘Old Engine Oil’) then on to the Chapel Royal within the castle.
The Cappella Nova concert combined Robert Carver’s Missa L’Homme Armé (fittingly en place) with other medieval music, Gregorian chant and two compositions by women commissioned by Cappella Nova, Dona Nobis Pacem L Robertson and Immortal Peace J Gill. Glorious music, so beautifully sung, thrilling, penetrates the bones.
