A surprise butterfly encounter...

...on my walk this morning.

I was surprised because I was out photographing the lovely colour in the sea, as in the extra.

Surprised too because I had seen quite a few swallowtails in the past few days and none stayed still long enough to even reach for the camera. 

But, just as I finished taking the extra, I turned to find a lavendar bush with several of these so-called Scarce Swallowtails happily waiting to be photographed.
